Summer Workshops at Kelly Miller Community Center

Handwritten pageThis summer we've partnered with PRO Urban Youth, a program that provides youth employment and enhancements to 450 DC youth participating in the Department of Employment Services summer job program.

One of our host sites is the Kelly Miller Community Center, where CLWC volunteer Melissa D'Lando recently led the first of several once-weekly workshops with a group of students aged 7-13. The young superstars regaled her with stories of their earliest memories that ranged from tales of water park madness to dinners at Grandma's—complete with illustrations!

Melissa will be working with the group to write about our very own hometown of Washington, DC in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for updates.
